In pictures: the best of Design Miami

Every year, Design Miami is one of the most exciting events on the global design calendar. It attracts the most talented designers, galleries and collectors from in and around the world to celebrate innovative and creative work related to design through the vehicle of furniture, lighting, interiors and art pieces.

This year’s Design Miami was no exception. It has continued to solidify its status as a prestigious venue in the world of design. Design and visual component of every exhibit within the booths were breathtakingly beautiful and each exhibit contained bold new ideas and wonderfully designed artworks.

Visiting the exhibition felt like being inside a living exhibition of design. Each booth represented the individual story of the artist though their art item using colour, shape, texture, and material. The combination of the two created the perfect opportunity for each visitor to be stimulated creatively and fully involved with the overall exhibition.

Design Miami demonstrates that design is more than just luxury items. Design connects with our culture, sustainability and our daily lives. Many designers are making a conscious effort to utilize natural materials, repurposed materials and eco-friendly practices in their designs of products.

Capturing Design Miami through photography cannot be understated since those who were unable to attend the event can have an opportunity to experience substandard visuals of the beauty of the event through the hundreds of images taken at the event.

Design Miami is a gathering for all types of creative thinkers, as architects and designers mix with designers, collectors, and students. This mix of people generates a large volume of meaningful discussion regarding what the future holds for design and how design will influence the way we will live.

Designers Showcase Innovation

Innovative designs are demonstrated through outstanding designs as well as quality workmanship; in addition to that many exhibits featured innovative materials and modern designs including furniture made from curves; sculptural lighting; and sculptures.

Some designers showed their respect for traditional methods by combining traditional handicraft with contemporary methods; this resulted in an overall artistic expression that made visitors experience the blending of these two styles.

In photographs of the best of Design Miami the images create a story of imagination, vision and creativity. Each photograph tells a story of artistic expression that will help illustrate the way in which design has developed, changed the culture we experience today.
